About us

We are dedicated to creating a sustainable future through innovative renewable energy solutions.

Our mission is to design and install high-quality renewables tailored to your home, business or community project.

Commitment to Quality

Over the years, we’ve successfully installed renewable energy solutions across a wide range of locations. From homes and fire stations to railway networks, warehouse roofs, village halls and college campuses – if there’s a place where renewable energy can make a difference, we’ve probably been there!

However, our commitment to quality means that we won’t install renewables just anywhere. We carefully evaluate each project to ensure it provides value for money over the entire lifetime of the system, delivering the best result for our clients AND for the environment. Our priority is delivering long-term benefits, not just short-term gains.

As part of our service, and in line with MCS requirements, we always provide detailed performance and financial models with every tender. This transparency allows you to understand exactly what you can expect from your investment and helps you to plan accordingly.

Operating Sustainably

Meet The Team!

Martin Heath

Co-Founder of BES – Basingstoke Energy Services

Martin has been a leader in renewable energy systems deployment for over 30 years. He was co-founder of BES and, along with Jim, is also one of the founders of JPH Renewables.

Martin has a deep understanding of renewables technology and has worked on projects as diverse as community-owned wind farms, major solar PV developments, and de-carbonising the UK’s heating, electrical and transport systems.

Martin specialises in:

  • Renewable energy financial planning
  • Strategy development
  • Building and leading technology start-ups
  • CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
  • ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)
  • Carbon management

… to name just a few!

Whilst at KPMG, Martin built and lead the firm’s Information, Communications and Electronics Consulting team. He was a member of KPMG’s Global Telecommunications Management Board. He also founded and lead KPMG’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Carbon Management Group.

Over the past 10 years, he has been increasingly focused on helping organisations become more sustainable. He remains heavily involved in community energy projects, helping communities to reduce their carbon footprint and their energy bills through community led and funded projects.

There are many strings to his bow and, with his extensive industry contacts, Martin is a very useful man to have around!

Jim Hill

Managing Director – JPH Electricals

Jim is the Managing Director and Appointed Technical Person at JPH Renewables as well as being the Qualified Supervisor (QS) and Principal Engineer for JPH Electricals, which he founded in 2015.

Sam Crofts

Co-Owner – JPH Electricals

Sam is the Co-Owner and Lead Engineer at JPH Electricals, joining the team in 2017.

Iain James

Iain has now retired from the day-to-day of the business but remains in the background, supporting clients with installs under the BES business to ensure that we maintain continuity and keep the knowledge of the older installs.

One of the original owners of BES, Iain has a wealth of technical knowledge and has helped with the training of newer team members over the last couple of years. Iain’s qualifications allow us to install Tesla Powerwalls and make us an approved for GivEnergy, qualifications that Jim will soon have so that we can carry on the tradition!

Iain originally qualified as an engineer in the aircraft industry, then moved onto food manufacturing with a long career at Mars. He started with BES because of his passion for renewable energy.  He says he likes projects that are different. “From working with London Fire Brigade to Network Rail, the challenge of doing something out of the ordinary gives me the energy to make a difference.” He enjoys working in a team where people are focused on doing the right thing by the customer and looking to go the extra mile to make the job the best it can be – and how the nature of a smallish business is that everyone has to do whatever needs doing.

An interesting fact about Iain is that he won the British Un-Faired Recumbent Championship (a recumbent bike race) in 2001 … and was running 3rd in the World Championship Final until he left the track and hit a tree, resulting in a long visit to A&E !

Iain James

JPH Electricals Group had already worked with Martin and Iain for many years, carrying out all the installations for Basingstoke Energy Systems Co-op.

In 2024, JPH Electricals Group bought Basingstoke Energy Systems and Jim and Sam founded their new sister company, JPH Renewables.

Martin and Iain have remained on the Board of Directors and are continuing to work alongside the JPH team, sharing their impressive knowledge and expertise in the world of solar energy.
